DANU SOMA

DANU SOMA

RESTORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE AND PLACE

At Althea, we’re keen to support communities in responsible environmental stewardship, helping people reconnect with nature while simultaneously discovering more about themselves along the way. That’s why a second strand of our business is all about offering immersive nature connection experiences.

Designed for groups or individuals, our eco-somatic practices promote well-being through mindfulness, stillness, and ecological awareness in a very practical way. Whether through private bookings or public sessions, these experiences help people reconnect with nature and their ecological intelligence, bringing them closer to nature. Indeed, with each of us being part of the earth’s ecosystem, we can learn from the intelligence rooted within this – in ways which nurture and offer balance and guidance.

EMBRACE ECO-SOMATICS WITH OUR DANU-SOMA PROGRAMME

‘Danu’ – a Celtic goddess who embodies the earth’s fecundity and is both a source of life and a symbol of the land’s enduring strength and wisdom, also linked to the element of water.

‘Soma’ – derived from the ancient Greek word ‘sōmatikos,’ (‘the body as perceived from within’). The body is the all-knowing messenger communicating through the language of sensation, which can be experienced within our breath, movements and mindfulness.

  • M O V E M E N T

encouraging body consciousness through gentle movements of yin yoga, focusing on sensing the body from within and in the environment, fostering ecological connection.

  • A W A R E N E S S

nurturing nature connections through immersive experiences designed to cultivate awareness and connection with the natural world through mindfulness practices and outdoor engagement.

  • P R E S E N C E

facilitating a breath practice of awareness and inquiry to reveal our own internal landscape, and through intuitive somatic exploration connect to our innate wholeness on earth.

Danu-soma is all about ‘looking through the microscope’ at both nature and ourselves – and is grounded in research which shows that the strength of a person’s connection to nature is linked to their well-being and environmental behaviour. How we engage with nature ultimately influences our overall wellbeing – and the more connected and tuned in to nature we are, the more we care about the environment and adopt a stewardship role.
